Title: Sr. Project Controls Specialist
Duties: My position involved reviewing blueprints,
interfacing with project superintendents,
estimators and sub contract labor to gather information needed
to produce computer generated
critical path, resource loaded, pdm schedules for hard dollar
and cost plus projects, using
primavera software. After completing the schedule I was
responsible for tracking the progress
of the project through the corporate standard reports. These
reports would include a schedule
synopsis, summary schedules, s-curves, planned vs earned report
& 3 week look ahead. I compare
the target schedule to the current schedule to determine the
schedule performance indicator
(SPI). I also compare the actual man hours to the earned
manhours to determine the cost
performance indicator (CPI). Information to status the schedule
is gathered from the field
crews.
I developed and documented a cost control process that I have
been using in a world class
ethylene facility at a local refining company. I used the
process to create budgets, track
cost and project final cost for three turnarounds totaling 50
mil.
My latest assignment was lead scheduler on a 200 mil
maintenance/capital project shut down at
a large local petro/chemical refinery.
1992 to 2000: Equistar Chemical, Laporte Texas
Title: Maintenance / Turnaround Planner
Duties: As a t/a planner I was responsible to review each maintenance job
respective to my
area. I would determine the most cost effective repair procedure
by using all available
resources. This would involve using the existing plant
maintenance file, talking to
knowledgeable individuals and personal past experience. I would
record the procedures into
the plant CMMS system. I would then acquire materials necessary
to complete the job. I would
prepare the bid proposal, and request a bid meeting through the
purchasing department. I would
also host and direct the bid meeting with vendors associated
with my work. I would write all
labor requisitions necessary for the third party labor. I would
create the logic diagrams to
represent the chronological order of the work. This information
was forwarded to a scheduling
group who produced the pdm schedule. Once the t/a was in
progress I was responsible to gather
the status information used to chart the progress of the outage.
As a maintenance planner my duties were very similar to the t/a
planning except the jobs were
more of a daily nature.
As a maintenance co-ordinator my duties were to act as the
primary contact between the
maintenance department and the production department to put
together the daily maintenance
schedules for unit I was assigned to.
Accomplishments:
I was directly involved in planning and executing three large
turnarounds.
